Where the site is

Brownfield land register
Local planning authorities in England must publish a register of previously developed land they consider appropriate for residential development. We hold those registers in one searchable database so each site can be found, filtered and appraised alongside the rest of your evidence.
The registered site centre point, the local planning authority that published the entry and its local reference, so the record can be traced back to source.
Site area in hectares, recorded minimum and maximum dwelling capacity, deliverability and ownership status, exactly as published — never inferred.
Whether permission is recorded, the permission type and the register dates held against the entry. Where a field is not published we say so rather than assume it.
Every record links to the MHCLG Planning Data service entry it came from, published under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
Screen an area for sites an authority has already accepted as previously developed, before spending time on greenfield promotion.
Check whether a site you are already assessing appears on its authority's register, and what capacity was recorded for it.
Carry a register entry straight into the site analysis, policy evidence and residual appraisal tools rather than starting again.
What this dataset covers
Brownfield register information is provided for initial site screening. Inclusion in Part 1 does not grant planning permission. Part 2 and permission-in-principle status must be verified with the relevant local planning authority. The local authority register and planning register remain the authoritative sources.
